3 Ways To Style Pigtails So You Don't Look Like You're 3!

Summer time in Arizona means that it's literally so hot that every time I get in my car my whole body fills with goosebumps. Craziest feeling ever, I tell ya. Because my hair just sticks to my neck when its over 115 degrees outside, I have become obsessed with pigtails.

BUT, let's be honest. If pigtails aren't done right, then you may or may not end up looking like a 3 year old little girl. Here are my 3 favorite ways to style pigtails (so you don't look like you're 3).

1- Twists- After you separate your two different sides for pigtails, separate one side in half. Twist the two sections of hair around each other as tight as you can, and when you reach the end secure with a clear hair tie. The hair twist will loosen, giving you a really cute twisted pigtail!

2- Half Braid- Instead of going all the way with your braid, only braid the top of your pigtail and then put a hair tie in it. It switches things up and I absolutely love the way it looks. You can even dress it up by putting curls in your hair.

3- For a more messy look, do a chinese staircase braid only half way down your hair. This is great for a casual Saturday out, to a game, etc. Learn how to do a Chinese Staircase braid here.

As always, don't forget to tag me on Instagram @theshineproject, #theshineproject so I can see how your hair turns out! We're about to make pigtails really cool again.

I am so excited to try all of these! Here in Texas it gets super hot during the summer as well and I end up having the same issues. I can't wait to try these, they're even suitable for my job!

This is great; thanks so much for these styles! :) I have finally grown my hair out and don't know what to do with it. I tried low pigtails once and my 15 year old daughter laughed at me!! SO, I will try these styles. :)

I am new to your blog, LOVE it! :)
